We are very excited to welcome our new Pastor Rev Harvey Vaughn III currently at Fountain of Hope. This summer he and Deidra Kirkland were united in holy matrimony.
He will give his first sermon at Bethel Memorial AME, San Diego on Sunday, November 1, 2015.
About Our Pastor, The Reverend Harvey L. Vaughn III:
Reverend Harvey L. Vaughn III was born, raised and educated in St. Louis, Missouri. Reverend Vaughn is a third generation preacher following his father and grandfather in service to the Lord. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Columbia College and has an extensive background in the non profit housing and mortgage/ lending industry. He is a proud father of three beautiful daughters, Alexis, August and Hope.
Reverend Vaughn was called to the ministry in 1990 at the age of twenty two. He has been laboring for the Lord for 20 years and loves to spread the good news of what the Lord God has done in his life. He preaches about the transforming power of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Reverend Vaughn has been the pastor at four other AME churches including Perry Chapel AME Church, prior to being appointed to Fountain Of Hope AME Church in November, 2010. Reverend Vaughn was reappointed to the Fountain Of Hope AMEC at the 87th session of the Southern California Conference for the 2011-2012 conference year.
He has developed a rapport with the entire congregation and is currently in the process of establishing a mentoring program geared toward providing life skills and guidance to the preteen and teenage young men of our church. He passionately believes in outreach programs and ministries that take us outside of our church walls and into a service mode for the communities we effect.
Pastor Vaughn's spiritual gifts and strengths are in the areas of teaching, leadership and administration. Our pastor is an avid reader and has started a book of the month club for the youth and adults. He enjoys traveling and professes to an attraction to vintage cars.
His vision for Fountain Of Hope is to expand our church walls. And, he has been instrumental in the process for this physical building expansion. In addition, he intends to aggressively increase our outreach, thereby increasing our membership and visibility in the community.
